Excello Joins the 2025 “Agir pour l’Éducation” Conference Series at the Collège de France, Focusing on Mathematics Education
About the Conference Series
“Agir pour l’Éducation” is a collective effort by Collège de France professors to address challenges in the French education system. Their approach is to understand, advise, and act across their various fields of expertise, using open, interdisciplinary scientific methods that engage both education professionals and students.
One of the most pressing issues today is mathematics. Often seen as difficult, math can also be a source of beauty, mystery, and excitement—yet many students lose interest in it. Even more worrying, studies over the past three decades show a steady decline in French students’ math performance, especially in arithmetic and problem-solving. According to the TIMSS survey, France now ranks at the bottom among European countries in math.
