Cognisciences

The cogniscience tools were co-developed by teachers, inspectors, doctors, and researchers specializing in child development at the Pierre Mendès France University in Grenoble. They primarily enable the screening of written language disorders (dyslexia). All of these tools are available free of charge on the Grenoble Academy website. To facilitate your research, we describe them below.

CP: OURA LEC/CP

A set of tests to measure the progress of reading acquisition during the CP year. 4 tests take place during the year, in September, December, March and June.

These tests cover the following topics: 

  •  September: Phonology and Letter Sound Identification
  •  December: Decoding and Word Identification
  •  March: Reading text and logatomes
  •  June: reading texts

GS-CP : BSEDS 5-6

Health Assessment: Developmental assessment for schooling between ages 5 and 6. This battery includes a set of standardized tests in the following areas:

  • Vision
  • Processing of visual information
  • Hearing
  • Language in production
  • Receiving language
  • Phonological awareness
  • Motor skills
  • Oculomotor skills
  • Phonological memory
  • Attention

High School: ECLA 16+

A set of tests to assess reading skills in adolescents aged 16 to 18. This battery includes the following tests:

  • Reading meaningful and non-meaningful texts (Alouette)
  • Reading isolated words
  • Dictation of words and texts
  • Logatom repetition
  • Phonology
  • Quick naming
  • Naming letters
  • Verbal fluency
  • Processing of visual information
  • Memory

CE1-CM2: BALE

Written language disorder screening battery including the following tests: 

  • Reading texts
  • Reading of frequent and infrequent isolated words
  • Reading letters and numbers
  • Reading comprehension
  • Dictation of words and non-words
  • Sentence dictation (only in CM2)
  • Repetition of words, pseudo words and logatomes
  • Vocabulary
  • Listening comprehension
  • Phonology
  • Visual tests
  • Phonological memory

CE1-5th: ODEDYS

Battery of tests for screening for dyslexia including the following tests:

  • Reading texts
  • Word reading
  • Comparison of letter sequences
  • Dictation of sentences (from CM2) and words
  • Repetition of words and logatomes
  • Phoneme deletion and merging
  • Quick naming
  • Memory
  • Visual test

CM2-5th: ROC

Battery for identifying students with reading or spelling difficulties, consisting of the following tests:

  • Spelling judgment
  • Text dictation
  • Reading text
