Kalulu

One-minute read

This test assesses a student's reading fluency. To do this, you will present your student with a list of words that they will have to read as best they can. You will stop them after one minute and count the number of words read correctly. It is available starting in January of first grade.

How are the lists made up?

Each of these lists contains 100 words (50 between January and March of CP) randomly drawn from our database of several thousand. You are free to choose the frequency and length of the words you wish to include, in order to adapt the list to the level of your students. In addition to these parameters, the CP and CE1 lists always begin with 20 words whose spelling structure is an alternation of consonants and vowels (these are therefore more easily decipherable words).

Specificity of the list in CP

The CP lists are generated following the progression of the Kalulu method developed by Excello. When downloaded, they therefore only include words that can be decoded at this time of year for students learning to read with this method.
